Once you have set up a subdomain for your Return Center by specifying a Canonical Name (CNAME) resource record (per the instructions as outlined here), you can check that the configuration is correct using a DNS look-up tool.
DNS Look-up Tool
The DNS (Domain Name System) tool will allow you to look up domains or sub-domains per record type.
How to Access the Tool
- Navigate to Returnly's utilized DNS lookup tool here (Google Admin Toolbox Dig).
- Select "CNAME," and enter your mapped domain's URL, e.g. returns.your-store.com.
If configured it correctly, you will see a CNAME record that points to domains.returnly.com:
Note: A CNAME duplicates the hostname records, i.e. this links your returns.your-store.com to Returnly domains, thus forwarding all the web traffic to the right place.
- At the bottom of the page, toggle on the Raw View to access the response from the DNS server.
If configured incorrectly, you will not see a CNAME record or it will point to an incorrect URL:
