With Returnly Credit, the calculated value available to shoppers differs between a return and exchange.
Returns
Where a shopper initiates a return, they may be issued Returnly Credit to place a new order on the merchant's website. In these instances, the value of Returnly Credit is calculated as follows:
Subtotal of Returned Product
MINUS: Return Shipping Cost (w/ "Deduct from Refund > Full Amount" or "Flat Rate")
MINUS: Prorated Discount Amount
PLUS: Sales Tax* for Returned Product
Exchanges (Made with Returnly Credit)
Where a shopper initiates an exchange, Returnly Credit is generated to facilitate the exchange order behind the scenes via the ecommerce platform. In these instances, the value of an RMA's Returnly Credit is calculated as follows:
Subtotal of Exchanged Product
MINUS: Prorated Discount Amount
PLUS: Sales Tax* for Exchanged Product
For an RMA initiated at least in part as an exchange, no return shipping cost applies for the shopper, even where a "Deduct from Refund > Full Amount" or "Flat Rate" policy is active.

* This Sales Tax line item excludes tax charged on any original shipping cost.
Comparison
Take for example Order #1206, where one unit of the "Returnly Shirt" was purchased with a $10 off discount:
When this order was initiated for return, Returnly Credit was issued in the amount of $8.24 = $25.00 (Product Subtotal) - $8.30 (Return Shipping w/ "Deduct from Refund") - $10.00 (Prorated Discount) + $1.54 (Product Tax), and available to be applied towards a repurchase:
When this order was initiated for exchange, Returnly Credit was generated in the amount of $16.54 = $25.00 (Product Subtotal) - $10.00 (Prorated Discount) + $1.54 (Product Tax), and applied to the new order:
