When setting up Returnly, you have two primary return flow options that you can use for your customers:
- Entering in an order number and zip code
- Gift Return (Optional, Returnly Premium only)
Start return by entering order number and zip code
A shopper can also start a return by providing the Order Number & Shipping Zip Code. If the shopper opts to use this flow, they are brought directly to the product selection page, bypassing email verification to stay in one seamless flow. If there is no available combination of Order Number and Shipping Zip Code, an error is displayed.
Note: By using the Order Number and Shipping Zip Code, the shopper will have access to the products in that specific order only. They will not be able to view all their orders and select which one they want, which is what happens with the Email flow.
How to Add the Start with Order Number & Shipping Zip Code to Your Return Flow
In order to enable the Order Number & Shipping Zip Code return flow, you'll have to follow the below direction.
- Log in to the Returnly dashboard
- Click on the Customize tab on the left nav
- Select In the Returns Lookup section of the Returns Center tab

- Check Enable “Start with Order number and Zip” and click Save

After you have completed the above process, if you would like to set Order Number & Shipping Zip Code as the default Start Return flow instead of Email verification, contact our Merchant Care team at support@returnly.comand we'll activate this on your behalf.
Gift Return Flow (Returnly Premium only)
The Gift Return flow is only available to merchants using Returnly Premium plan and are also using Shopify Plus.
Returnly offers a separate return flow for individuals who received item(s) as gifts -- giftees. The original purchaser is not involved or notified, so no hurt feelings and the sentiment is still felt!
For a giftee going through the flow, they will see the following "Returning a Gift?" option at your Return Center:
Once a giftee has entered the flow, they will need to enter their Order Number, Zip Code, Name (First and Last), and Email Address within the corresponding fields:
Once their return has been initiated, the giftee will be provided with a shipping label to send their item(s) back. To learn more about how Gift Returns work, please visit this article.
