Hello there! We hope you had a wonderful end-of-year. We wanted to share a few quick updates to kick-start 2022. Please note that we will have another in-depth article about product releases and updates a little later this month as well.
This article was last updated Tuesday, January 24th, 2022.
Shopify Outage
Occurrence: 1/11/22
On Tuesday, Jan 11th at approximately 3 PM - 4:30 PM PST, Shopify experienced an outage that impacted Admin, Checkout, and Point of Sale functionality. Consequently, that resulted in exchange order creation failures which manifested as 404 Not Found errors.
Within Returnly, this also may have resulted in an inappropriate $0.00 refund amount processed for refunded and authorized RMAs. On Returnly's side, we have since retried all exchange order creation failures successfully.
We are still monitoring the situation, but if you have been affected by this outage, or your customers have already reached out to you about this, please let us know by contacting our Merchant Care team at support@returnly.com.
Will Occur On: 1/18/22
In order to provide our customers with the highest levels of security and performance, we'll be taking a moment to implement the latest version of Cloudflare.
This work will begin on Tuesday, January 18th, at 12:00 am and lasting about an hour. If you experience any service interruptions or isses accessing your Returns Manager outside of this window, please contact us at support@returnly.com.
Returnly Widget Deprecation
Will Occur On: 2/1/22
Returnly will be ending support for our Returns Center Widget, which allows you to create a link on your website (an example shown below) which leads your customers to your Returns Center. Only a small number of our customers are still using this legacy feature; we will reach out to those of you who are still leveraging this functionality. As a reminder for these specific customers, we encourage you to read our Return Policy Best Practices Guide (particularly, tip #7!) where you can learn how to best set your customers up for a successful return and exchange journey.
The Returnly Widget will be turned off on your website and no longer configurable or found within the Returnly Dashboard (as shown below) on February 1st, 2022.
If you want further information regarding the end of support for the Returnly Widget, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.
Legacy Manual Exchanges function deprecation
Will Occur On: 3/1/22
As we've been communicating continuously over the past months, all Returnly merchants will be transitioned to the latest version of our Return Center experience starting March 1st, 2022. For anyone still using our Legacy Exchange experience (there are very few left!) and after your account has transitioned to the latest Return Center experience, your shoppers will no longer be able to select the checkmark box indicating they would like to exchange.
As a result, your Manage Returns page will no longer indicate an Exchange.
How can I offer exchanges moving forward?
If you are reliant on the legacy exchange experience and need to prepare your store for the new Return Center transition, we suggest you do the following:
- If you would like to stay on a month-to-month plan, we suggest making adjustments to your return policy page communicating how shoppers can make an exchange moving forward. Take a look at this Knowledge Center article for suggestions.
- Upgrade to an annual plan and get automated exchanges (plus an API token, analytics, and so much more!). With an annual plan, your customers can exchange for a different size, color or new product altogether before being offered a refund. We sync with your inventory so customers always see what's in stock, and place the replacement order automatically based on the trigger event of your choice. Please contact your Customer Success Manager for more details.
