Returned Orders

Number of orders which were created in the date range shown and which had subsequent returns within and beyond the date range shown.

The returns of such orders must be in a state of authorized, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account in this widget.

Returned Items

Number of items returned within the date range shown. The parent returns of such items must be in a state of authorized, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account in this widget.

Items Per Return

Average (arithmetic mean) number of items per return i.e. sum of the number of items in a given date range (week) divided by the distinct number of returns in that date range (week). The number overlay and horizontal line show the same average but computed over the entire span of the date range shown. The parent returns must be in a state of authorized, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account in this widget.

Average Return Value

Average (arithmetic mean) value of all returned merchandise in a given date range, including return shipping charges incurred by shoppers. The value of returned merchandise is the amount paid by shoppers in the corresponding original order. The returns of such orders must be in a state of authorized, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account in this widget.

Total Returns

Total value of all returned merchandise in a given date range. The returns must be in a state of authorized, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account in this widget.

Total Refunds

Total estimated refunds of returned merchandise in a given date range. The returns must be in a state of delivered or refunded to be taken into account in this widget. Alternatively, if any one shipping label associated with a return is in a state of delivered, such return will also be accounted in this widget.

Return Reasons

Histogram of return reasons i.e. count of returned items that had a specific return reason specified by a shopper within a given date range. The parent returns of such items must be in a state of authorized, pre-transit, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account in this widget.

Return Reasons by Product Type

Count of return reasons by product type, shown as proportional areas within each horizontal bar. The returns must be in a state of authorized, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account in this widget.

Authorized Returns by Originator

Number of returns authorized by originator. The returns must be in a state of authorized, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account in this widget.

Unauthorized Returns by Originator

Number of returns unauthorized by originator. The returns must be in a state of incomplete or requested to be taken into account in this widget.

Returns by Zipcode

Returns shown by zip code on a geolocation map.

Labels Issued

Number of return shipping labels issued within the date range shown.

Labels Delivered

Number of return shipping labels issued within the date range shown and currently in a state of delivered.

Avg. Carrier Fee

Average (i.e. arithmetic mean) of the carrier fee charged for every return shipping label issued within the date range shown.

Labels Pre-Transit

Number of return shipping labels issued within the date range shown and currently in a state of pre-transit.

Labels Pre-Transit Older Than 2 Weeks

Number of return shipping labels issued within the date range shown and older than 2 weeks from today, and currently in a state of pre-transit.

Labels In-Transit

Number of return shipping labels issued within the date range shown and currently in a state of in-transit.

Labels Status

Count of the number of return shipping labels issued over time within a date range, and in various shipping states.

All labels states are as of currently. Please note that this chart does not show the date when any given label transitioned from one state to another.

Labels shown in the chart are anchored at their date of issuance.

Return Rate: Overall

Overall (i.e. across all shoppers) return rate computed as the number of distinct orders that were created in the date range shown and which had a subsequent return, divided by the number of distinct orders created in the date range shown with or without returns. The returns must be in a state of authorized, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account (in the numerator) in this widget.

Return Rate: 1st-Time Shoppers

1st-time shopper return rate computed as the number of distinct orders placed by 1st-time shoppers that were created in the date range shown and which had a subsequent return, divided by the number of distinct orders placed by 1st-time shoppers created in the date range shown with or without returns. The returns must be in a state of authorized, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account (in the numerator) in this widget. A 1st-time shopper is a shopper who didn't place an order in the 180 days prior to the date range shown.

Return Rate: Repeat Shoppers

Repeat shopper return rate computed as the number of distinct orders placed by repeat shoppers that were created in the date range shown and which had a subsequent return, divided by the number of distinct orders placed by repeat shoppers created in the date range shown with or without returns. The returns must be in a state of authorized, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account (in the numerator) in this widget. A repeat shopper is a shopper who placed one order or more in the 180 days prior to the date range shown.

User Agent for Completed Returns

Tally of user-agent used by shoppers for initiating their returns. The returns must be in a state of authorized, pre-transit, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account in this widget.

Desktop vs. Mobile for Completed Returns

Tally of desktop vs. mobile users when initiating their returns. The returns must be in a state of authorized, pre-transit, in-transit, delivered, or refunded to be taken into account in this widget.

Restockable Items Pre/In-Transit

Products (skus, variant ids, or product ids, in that order, depending on availability) with two or more units with shipping labels in a state of pre-transit or in-transit back to the warehouse.

Most-Returned Products

Return rate i.e. ratio of the number of returned items to the number of purchases of a given product, and within a given date range.

To identify a unique product, we use the first available field in the following order: sku, variant id, or product id.
